These are the recipients of the Staff Appreciation and Recognition (STAR) Program for the Summer 2019. In addition to being recognized at our Law School staff luncheon, recipients will receive $2,000 and a crystal STAR award as a signal of the school’s appreciation.
Dawn Moore

Dawn Moore is an extraordinary colleague, a problem-solver, and superb resource for students, faculty, centers, and staff in her role as Coordinator in the Secretariat. Her multiple nominators describe her as welcoming, creative, innovative, endlessly helpful, detail-oriented, and quick to respond. As the liaison between the Law School and Print Services, Dawn ensures print jobs are delivered in a timely fashion, while exercising her own good judgement and conscientious oversight to ensure that no file goes to the printer incomplete or at sub-par quality. Dawn’s collaborative, cheerful, and gracious nature is an asset to the Law School community!
John Soto

John is a jack-of-all-trades who, for more than a decade, has gone above and beyond in meeting the operational challenges posed by Law School administrators, faculty, and students each day. John is exceedingly resourceful, helpful, cheerful, and professional. Whenever people need an answer to a question regarding an event or equipment setup—often quite urgently—John is the one they call. In addition to being a problem-solver with a strong work ethic and commitment to the Law School, John exemplifies what “service” and “citizenship” are all about and works every day to make Columbia Law School a better place.

Over the past year, the efforts put forth by Lisa Genoese in the Law Library have gone above and beyond in every aspect. Lisa’s Herculean efforts have ensured that the complex migration to a new Integrated Library System—a project that is normally measured in years—was completed in under six months! Throughout it all, her positive and friendly outlook has made the transition possible. Her nominators praised her "positive, calm, can-do attitude", her "seemingly inexhaustible supply of energy and perseverance", and her willingness to work "tirelessly around the clock." Lisa has made a tremendous difference in the life of everyone who works in and uses the Law Library, and the STAR Program is thrilled to be able to recognize her contributions.
