Broadway Community Volunteer Event: Continuing Our Commitment to Service

Columbia Engineering staff once again came together to support Broadway Community, a local nonprofit dedicated to addressing food insecurity and promoting dignity for all in Morningside Heights. Building on the success of our spring volunteer day, this fall’s return to Broadway Community reaffirmed our School’s ongoing mission of Engineering for Humanity through hands-on service and community partnership.

On October 28, 2025, SEAS staff volunteered at Broadway Community’s soup kitchen to assist with the organization’s daily lunch program. Volunteers prepared and served meals, set tables, engaged with guests, and helped with cleanup. After lunch service concluded, several staff members also assisted with moving large food items from basement storage to the pantry, an effort that required teamwork, coordination, and plenty of heavy lifting to help the organization prepare for its next meal service.
