Spring Staff Social for 2025

On January 15th, Columbia Engineering hosted a vibrant Staff Social event titled “Spring Into Action” at Carleton Commons, inviting staff to kick off the new semester with an afternoon of connection, community service opportunities, and relaxed networking.

The event, running from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, was a partnership between Columbia Engineering and Columbia Community Service (CCS), with the goal of encouraging staff involvement in local community service initiatives. Joan Griffith Lee, from Columbia Community Service, attended and shared information about a wide range of volunteer opportunities available through CCS.

A standout feature of the event was the opportunity for staff to engage with representatives from various non-profit organizations partnered with Columbia. These organizations highlighted their missions and shared ways staff members could contribute through volunteering.

In addition to community service networking, the event offered a relaxed atmosphere for staff to reconnect with colleagues after the holiday break, enjoy light refreshments, and engage in casual conversation. It was an excellent opportunity to foster new connections and strengthen existing ones across departments.

The success of this event was evident through the lively conversations, the enthusiasm for volunteer opportunities, and the positive feedback from attendees. Staff left with a greater sense of connection to the Columbia community and a variety of ways to give back in the coming months.

Thank you to everyone who participated, and we look forward to seeing how our community will "Spring Into Action" this semester!
