Take a Break Meditation Series: A Moment of Stillness in a Busy Day

Columbia Engineering invited staff to pause, reset, and breathe with Take a Break, a 45-minute guided meditation series offered every Tuesday in April 2025. Facilitated by Kevin Myers, MS, AEP, ATC—Columbia University’s Ergonomist—the sessions provided a restful and restorative space for employees to release stress, reconnect with themselves, and support their overall well-being during the workday.

Held in Mudd 545, the series welcomed participants of all experience levels to engage in mindfulness practices including guided breathing, body awareness, and deep relaxation. Take a Break was originally introduced at Columbia in 2020 and has since evolved into a popular wellness offering across the University. The in-person series at Columbia Engineering fostered community, calm, and compassion in the workplace—one mindful breath at a time.
